Many thanks to those who came to our first ever Warm the Soles event! We had a fantastic time and look forward to doing the run again, next year.
Here’s a little report on the run:
On Saturday, October 15, thirty runners and walkers came to Valley Regional Park in Taylorsville for the first ever Warm the Soles 5K. The race benefitted the 100% for Kids foundation.
Before the race, Cyprus Credit Union presented a check for $25,000 to 100% for Kids. Cyprus raised the funds entirely through a payment-skip program.
“It was just a small crowd,” said Stephen Nelson, VP of Credit Union Support at the Association, “but it was just right for the first year. We’ll hold it again next year, and spend more time advertising it to get more folks out. It was a great way to begin International Credit Union Week.”
Originally thought of as a way to celebrate International Credit Union day, the idea for the race come out of PR/marketing roundtable last summer. Utah Power, Granite, and Deseret First credit union helped organize the race.
Below, Linda Burke and Karen Seo from Cyprus Credit Union present a check to Scott Simpson, chairman of the 100% for Kids board, and president of the Utah Credit Union Association.
